The Tale of the Shepherd Boy

Deep within the enchanting rolling hills, resided a boy named Shepherd. His being was pure, and unsophisticated. His only responsibility was mainly to care for his flock of sheep.

Their soft bleating and the whispering of the gales across the lone tree on the hilltop were his only companions. Day in day, watching over his responsibilities instilled in him a sense of tranquil contentment.

However, there were at times moments of isolation, when the shepherd boy would pine for company. During one such occasion from sheer monotony, the shepherd boy conceived a mischievous scheme.

Tales of wild beasts hunting on sheep had been around for a while in the town. So, the boy opted to leveraged this fear and played a prank on the inhabitants.

One afternoon he raced into the village screaming “Wolf! There is a wolf attacking my sheep!” The scared villagers ran up the hills to offer assistance but found no wolf.

The boy chuckled at the puzzle on their faces. This game laughed for a few days more. However, one morning, a real wolf did attack the flock. The shepherd boy raced for help, shouting “Wolf, Wolf!” But this time, no one showed up.

Frustrated and alone, the boy struggled against the wolf but could rescue only few of his flock. Heartbroken, he went back to the town only to receive a scolding on honesty and the repercussions of crying wolf.
